This is a great opportunity for teachers and students to meet and listen to an award-winning author and illustrator, and a chance for children to meet their favorite book’s creators.ĭuring the program, there will be a book discussion where Maillard and Martinez-Neal will discuss the creation of “Fry Bread,” followed by a Q&A and a book signing. Told in lively and powerful verse by debut author Kevin Noble Maillard, “Fry Bread” is an evocative depiction of a modern Native American family, vibrantly illustrated by Pura Belpre Award winner and Caldecott Honoree Juana Martinez-Neal. Free copies of “Fry Bread” will be distributed to the first 100 families to attend this event.
